Sir Thomas
Ask us to pick one picture that encapsulates the saying that “dogs look like their owners” and we’d have to show you this absolute masterpiece. Just a dog and his forever human
So many people got Thomas to where he is today. When we first saw Thomas, it was behind the bars of a very overcrowded shelter. He was stoically handsome like always, and we talked about him for days after. Fast forward a few months and the shelter was begging for help as Thomas’ health was declining rapidly, he was even set to be peacefully euthanized so he wouldn’t have to suffer through what they though was lymphoma. Turns out the poor boy was just depressed and had quite literally given up on life. We did NOT have the space to rescue him at the time, but just couldn’t help but remember the first time we saw his sweet face. We made a post asking for what we thought was fospice help but we honestly didn’t think it was going to get much traction, but now here we are. Thank you to his first shortterm foster mom that saw our plea for help and volunteered to house him - without her, Thomas would have been euthanized and that would have been the end of this story. Thank you to his longterm foster mom who has been nothing but patient over the last 10 months while we searched and searched for his forever family. Thank you to everyone who voted for Sir Thomas in the Pin Up Paws calendar with @staughumane in the hopes that his forever family would see him on the cover. And finally, thank you to his amazing new family for giving this special miracle boy a place to call home for forever They decided it was time to adopt for the first time after having an empty house for quite some time and after meeting Thomas, they knew he was their perfect match.
Thomas has been waiting for a home since being surrendered to the shelter in November of 2021 after his previous owner passed away. With the help of some amazing friends, he was rescued and has been searching for a home with Swamp Haven since March of 2022. And now, in January of 2023, we can finally (and tearfully) announce that Thomas of the Swamp is HOME.
