Blanche
When Blanche was put on the euthanasia list back in November of 2022, we made a mad dash to go save her life despite being full. We’d seen her picture ONCE - a fleeting snapshot on an endless Facebook feed - and couldn’t get her off our minds.
To say the next few months were easy would be a lie. We’d never met a dog like Blanche - she’d likely never been in a home before and had the canine equivalent of a panic attack whenever she was anywhere other than a crate or outside. She’d cry, whine, and physically dig at windows and doors to try and get to the outside world. She struggled for months to get her anxiety under control even with the help of medication, and we struggled right along with her. We’d talk for hours about how we didn’t know how to help this sweet, sensitive, confused girl and it broke our hearts. When we’d truly lost hope and were utterly discouraged, her amazing foster mom reached out to help and changed all of our lives.
Weeks of patience, understanding, and growth later, her foster mom connected us with with someone in Richmond, Virginia that was searching for their next “soul dog”. We don’t typically adopt out state but felt that Blanche deserved this chance so we took a leap of faith and the rest was history.
These days, Blanche is livin’ it up with her best cat pal Annabelle and enjoys her daily “teatime” with mom in the garden! She’s experiencing snow, discovering that she’s a woman with keen fashion sense, goes on weekly pack walks with the neighborhood gang, and most importantly, she’s continuing to blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. Her mom says B discovers who she is more and more each day, and is so happy that she gets to be the person to see Blanche bloom into her best, happiest self.
Happy forever, Blanche. Keep blooming girl, you’re stunning and you’ve earned it.
