Meet Strawberry and Banana

This week we made an emergency trip down to one of our partner shelters when we got the plea that they were full and tough decisions were going to be made if space didn’t open up somehow. Due to wonderful networking, we weren’t the only ones who stepped up, and Bradford was able to get nine dogs out of the shelter! Two of those now empty kennels held these two special ladies, and the two newest Swampies. Fam, meet Strawberry and Banana.

These two girls were owner surrenders, and arrived in unacceptable shape. Banana appears to be relatively healthy, but poor Berry’s skin is so angry and inflamed she bleeds any time you touch her or she rubs against something. Her paw pads are swollen and hot to the touch, and yet this sweet fruit wiggles and wags and doesn’t act like she is in any pain at all, even with her scabs busting open every time she gets her happy dance.

Both these girls are super sweet and social but shy. They will plop right into your lap, but are nervous to adventure, and leashes are a brand new concept. We are so excited to show them all the things.

In the past two weeks we have taken on four new Swampies, all of which need varying levels of medical attention. If you can, please consider making a donation. Every little bit goes right back to these sweet creatures and showing them what life is supposed to be like.

Welcome to the Swamp girlies. It’s time for the good life.
